Thank-you!!!
Rusty didn't get his Obedience Dog Of The Year (2009) without a tough fight. We thought that we had disappointed everyone when Rusty didn't clear the send-away exercise. He ran 2 metres ahead from the start line and dropped himself. I guessed my heart dropped at that same moment too. When I walked out of the ring, I can't establish eye contact with my fellow classmates because I felt that we have disappointed them and most of all our trainer. I had to sit down by myself to calm down.
However, that did not end Rusty's chance to become "Obedience Dog Of The Year" because there were 3 of us this year that have gained 160 points so we had to do a run off with the other two dogs (a Schnauzer and a Border Collie). We were called into the ring and the judge (Mr David Rumble) told us that he would need us to do heelwork and a recall exercise to determine the winner of the title. 3 of us lined up in a straight line and did our heelwork according to the commands of the judge. The Border Collie was the first to be eliminated. Then we proceeded with the recall exercise. Rusty did a nice run towards me whereas the Schnauzer came running half the distance but reduced to a trotter towards his handler.
When the trial manager announced that we were the winner for the "Obedience Dog Of The Year" title, all I could hear were the cheers from the Waggie team. Yes! We did it! Rusty we did it!
Thank-you everyone for your supports and encouragements. Most importantly, thank-you Patrick. I am sure if Rusty could speak, he would wanna say "sorry for the blunder I made but I did try to make up for it
